In the light of the mandates of the President of the republic and the directives of the prime minister on the need to speed up the implementation of the new solid waste management system in the governorates.
General Mahmoud Sharawi, minister of local development, announced that the committee that was formed to follow up and receive the work of the hygiene system infrastructure projects will receive the feeder station assembled in the Nasser area of Cairo governorate on Thursday. Sharawi said the station has a total surface area of about 1,600 meters and serves the areas of the central neighborhood, Manshiat Nasser, western Nasr city, Abdeen , Azbakia and Bab al-Shaariya.
The minister of local development added that the plant is equipped with a biscoll scale, a reception pier, fire trucks, pallets, and a fully covered pier, with five parking Spaces for waste crates under the pier and car washes, adding that the plant receives approximately 500 to 600 tons per day.
General Mahmoud Sharawi said that the new plant was part of a contract signed between the ministries of local development, environment, planning and economic development and the Arab organization for industrialization for the implementation of waste system infrastructure projects for the financial year 2019-2020, which included the construction of a combined intermediate station at Nasser facility in Cairo governorate.
Sharawi said that in 1919 a committee was formed to manage, monitor and receive the works of the infrastructure projects in the governorate in 2019/2020 in order to ensure that the terms of all the work included in the contract for the first phase of the hygiene infrastructure in the governorate are implemented.
The minister of local development stressed that the ministry is moving ahead in coordination and ongoing cooperation throughout the day with the ministries and relevant bodies in order to speed up the implementation of the new waste management system and start with the most densely populated areas so that citizens may feel a tangible improvement as soon as possible and restore the cultural and aesthetic face of the Egyptian street to the satisfaction of citizens.
