Developing the public transport system in Cairo and Alexandria

An amount of 5.5 billion pounds was spent to raise the efficiency and develop the public transport system in Greater Cairo and Alexandria to transport 2 million citizens daily, as:
Purchase of 1800 new buses.
Raising the efficiency and development of 156 articulated tram trains.
Buying 7 electric buses.
Purchase of 182 buses to operate on natural gas.
Developing and raising the efficiency and overhauling of 1500 buses.
Increasing the resources of the two bodies to reduce dependence on government support.
