Investment projects worth 25 billion pounds in the governorates

Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Local Development, announced that during the current fiscal year 2021/2022, projects were implemented to support the infrastructure of the governorates with investments estimated at about 25 billion pounds, through the appropriations allocated to the offices of all governorates or provided by the ministry to support the urgent and emergency needs of the governorates and to complete the implementation of projects Which has been started to be implemented in the areas of extending and strengthening the electricity and lighting networks, paving roads, improving the environment, security, firefighting and traffic, and supporting the needs of local units.

The Minister of Local Development stressed that the implemented projects aimed at improving the environmental situation to preserve the health of citizens, improving electricity services to meet the needs of citizens, allowing the implementation of small and medium-sized projects with economic returns, facilitating the movement of movement between villages and cities, solving traffic jams and facilitating the transportation of products to improve the economic situation of citizens, and preserve their lives and properties, and creating an appropriate security environment to contribute to economic development, raise the efficiency of public services provided to citizens as well as infrastructure projects, support the urgent and emergency needs of the governorates and complete projects that are not included in financing to meet the needs of citizens with the aim of developing Egyptian villages economically, socially and urbanly.

Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy explained that the 2021/2022 plan witnessed the implementation of a large number of projects at the governorate level to meet the demands of the people of the governorates and in line with the government's priorities, noting that the plan took into account the fairness of distribution between the regions and governorates to bridge the development gaps and so that citizens feel the results and fruits of the projects that are being implemented Its implementation, especially with the improvement of the level of services provided to citizens in various sectors and service areas.

The Minister of Local Development pointed out that the total projects implemented in the Greater Cairo Region, including the governorates of Cairo, Giza and Qalyubia, amounted to 6.8 billion pounds, to develop services and facilitate the lives of citizens, explaining that projects were implemented with funds amounting to 6.3 billion pounds for Upper Egypt, which includes governorates. Beni Suef, Fayoum, Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, New Valley and the Red Sea, stressing that the ministry attaches great importance to following up the implementation of the investment plan projects in Upper Egypt to improve the level of services provided to them. dignified."
The minister pointed out that the total investments of projects implemented in the Alexandria region, which includes the governorates of Alexandria, Beheira and Matrouh, amounted to about 2.3 billion pounds, while the investments of projects in the Delta region, which includes the governorates of Menoufia, Gharbia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta and Dakahlia, amounted to 2.7 billion pounds. Sinai, which includes the governorates of North and South Sinai, and the Canal region, which includes the governorates of Port Said, Ismailia, Suez and Sharqia

Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy praised the continuous follow-up of the governors to the implementation of development projects that are implemented on the land of their wallets and the speed of work to remove any obstacles or challenges related to the implementation process, directed by maximizing the benefit from the implemented projects to achieve a better life for citizens and provide job opportunities.

Shaarawy pointed out that what was spent during the current year's plan contributed to improving services in several service sectors, as projects were implemented to extend electricity networks to new residential areas, replace and renew existing networks, and supply lighting equipment to provide electricity to citizens for household uses, with investments of 1.7 One billion pounds, and the works carried out by the governorates included the supply and installation of lighting poles, low voltage electrical transformers, laying cables, supplying and installing lighting fixtures and saving bulbs, in addition to purchasing tower cars for maintenance and other equipment.

Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy pointed out that an amount of 10.1 billion pounds has been spent to pave roads to connect villages and cities within the governorate to facilitate the process of transportation and transfer of products and to facilitate the process of trade exchange to raise the economic situation and implement the paving of local roads with a total of 5,500 km for 2,400 paving projects distributed over the governorates of the Republic.

The Minister of Local Development said that an amount of 3.7 billion pounds was spent to improve the environment of the governorates by purchasing hygiene equipment, covering banks within the residential block, raising the efficiency of waste recycling factories, and beautifying the entrances to villages, cities, public squares and streets to preserve the health of citizens, adding that the funds include the implementation of projects Developing gardens and squares, purchasing various cleaning equipment, where 1,500 cleaning equipment was purchased, developing random markets, in addition to rehabilitating cleaning equipment.

Major General Mahmoud Sharawy added that an amount of 1.4 billion pounds was spent on the security, firefighting and traffic system, including the establishment of fire stations and traffic booths, the supply of fire trucks, rescue cranes, and various devices and equipment in various governorates, pointing to the disbursement of 3.8 billion pounds to support the needs of local units in the governorates, including raising the efficiency of The headquarters of administrative buildings and the development of technology centers to provide services appropriately to citizens, in addition to the fact that an amount of 1.1 billion pounds has been spent to implement 50 bridges and tunnels for pedestrians and passengers in the governorates.
